Prospective and Newly Admitted Students

For Prospective Students

SAS makes determinations of appropriate accommodations based on student self-report and a review of the student’s documentation.  We are not able to guarantee any particular accommodations without working through the interactive process with each student. If you have questions about accessibility on campus, general questions about our community, or the types of accommodations we might put in place, please reach out to SAS at sas@yale.edu.

For Admitted Yale College Students

Congratulations! As an admitted student, you’ll have many questions about the different aspects of getting settled into your life at Yale University. Questions about accessibility will certainly be part of that process.

If you have accessibility questions that are part of your decision-making process after admission, write us at sas@yale.edu as soon as possible.

If you have accepted Yale’s offer and will be requesting accommodations, we encourage you to complete the accommodations request form with our office as soon as you activate your NetID. Be sure to use your Yale email to submit a request, and all communication will be through your Yale email account. If you do not have documentation available when you complete the form, you may email it to sas@yale.edu.

We will respond to your request based on the following timelines:

  • Housing requests—within a week, if requests are submitted by the deadline of May 10.
  • Dining and food allergy requests—within a week.
  • Requests for accommodations that require outside vendors or building renovations (ASL, CART, Braille, campus accessibility)—within a week of request.
  • Graduate and professional student requests—we will set up meetings in July and early August. If you are starting classes earlier than late August, please note that in your accommodation request form.
  • Yale College student academic requests—we will generally set up meetings in August for Yale College students.
