Request Accommodations

To request accommodations, students must make a request with SAS. Click the following button for more information and to start this process.

What to Expect

Once you submit the Request form, SAS will reach out to you to discuss accommodations within a week. For housing requests, please see information below.

During our first meeting, we will discuss your needs, accommodations history, and implementation of accommodations while at Yale. We will not discuss all details outlined in your documentation. We are not clinicians and do not expect the same level of information. Please keep in mind that SAS staff are sensitive to disability needs. Generally, your information is kept private and only your approved accommodations are shared with faculty and administrators. Information is only shared on a need to know basis for facilitating accommodations or security/safety concerns.

The determination of accommodations can be an ongoing process. We will create an accommodation plan for you at our first meeting but are open to further discussions about your needs as other responsibilities of your program become applicable.

More Information

You must submit your completed Accommodations request (Housing form included) before completing the graduate housing application. Graduate housing is not guaranteed for any student. Please see the Housing page for more information. First-year graduate students will not be expected to have a meeting with SAS as they are not yet on-campus.

Each graduate program and professional school varies in how exam accommodations are arranged and administered. Please work with SAS staff to arrange. Students must be registered with SAS and approved to receive exam accommodations.

Graduate and professional students have access to writing resources through the Graduate Writing Laboratory in the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. They offer accommodations to all students.
